Studio Boei was born out of a need to pause. To meet. To be seen gently.

Here, portrait photography is not about posing or producing an image. It is about creating space for something inner to surface.

 

The process begins with a conversation. Sometimes with words, sometimes with silence. We listen to what is present,  a feeling, a memory, a question that doesn’t yet know its shape.

 

From there, we move together. Into the studio, or outside,  into light, air, streets, corners. The camera follows the  rhythm of the encounter, not the other way around.

 

I allow uncertainty, blur, movement, pauses. I allow things not to be clear right away. The image forms slowly, as  something inside finds its way to be seen.

 

What remains at the end is not a portrait. A visual trace of a moment of presence. A quiet witness to an inner process that chose to take form.
